As a field catalyst, Digitunity is on a mission to make owning a computer possible for everyone.

Digitunity sits in a unique position in the digital access landscape. We are not a direct service organization; instead, we work at the systems level on a variety of initiatives that create impact at scale.

Here is a look at some of our current and recent programs and projects

Supporting States and Cities

Digitunity provides expert guidance to state, regional, and municipal broadband, and digital access teams, helping them develop sustainable strategies to address the digital divide through computer ownership. Digitunity’s thought leadership in this arena continues to influence how local stakeholders design and implement programs to benefit residents impacted by the digital divide.

Facilitating Technology Donations

Through a proprietary software platform and high-touch corporate concierge service, Digitunity generates technology donations from the corporate sector and other large institutions and places them with vetted community-based organizations nationwide. This longstanding approach has enabled tens of thousands of computer placements each year.

Promoting Technology Reuse

Technology reuse is a direct pathway to closing the device gap that impacts millions of people in the United States. Computers transitioning out of their first use in homes and businesses still have valuable potential and can create life-changing opportunities. Digitunity proudly supports the nation’s nonprofit computer refurbishers by advocating for technology reuse, promoting sustainable IT asset management practices, offering periodic funding opportunities, and placing donated equipment with nearly 100 recipient organizations nationwide.

Exploring Rural Solutions

Rural communities face unique challenges in addressing the digital divide. In a project funded by AT&T, Digitunity is examining strategies and practices employed by rural communities to meet the technology needs of residents. The goal is to develop models to expand computer ownership that can be replicated and utilized in communities in rural areas nationwide.

3 Southern States Connected Communities Program

Digitunity and AT&T are collaborating to strengthen digital navigator services, expand computer ownership, and connect over 13,000 residents to digital skills training, computers, and resources. This initiative brings together the core components of digital opportunity: people, tools, and knowledge.

Advocating for Change

Solutions to expand device ownership can be unlocked at the policy level. Digitunity was instrumental in the passage of the Computers for Veterans and Students Act in 2023 and is working in collaboration with the U.S. General Services Administration on the design and implementation of the new program, which, when launched, will direct an estimated 80,000 out of service federal computers to nonprofit refurbishers each year.

The 800-screen donation was received by one of [Digitunity's] local partner organizations in Columbus, Ohio and made a significant impact in bridging the digital divide. That donation not only supported their mission, but also supported the nonprofit organizations they work with in their local community.”
